About Björknäsgården

History
Just over one hundred years ago, the beautifully situated soldier cottage at Björknäs was converted into living quarters for the foreman of the yard where lumber was transport down to the coast. The Alma, proud steamer of Lake Revsund, made frequent moorings at the jetty.
Today, this charming estate has been converted into a hotel where you can unwind, socialize, enjoy good food and the wonderful surroundings. The Alma has been renovated and is available for tours around the lake. It has now resumed its position by the jetty, just like back in the day.

The owners
Björknäsgården is owned and managed by Torsten and Irene Nyquist.

Torsten Nyquist. Torsten is the entrepreneur behind the toy store chain Stor & Liten. The company was founded in 1968 as "Täby Lek &Hobby" (toys and hobbies) in the city centre of Täby just outside Stockholm. In 1975, the first Stor & Liten store was opened, the largest in Scandinavia at the time and located in Stockholm. Stor & Liten became famous for its excellent and friendly customer service, its competitive prices and great warrantees. In 1990, Stor & Liten was sold to KF (the Swedish Cooperative Union).
Northern Sweden has always held a special place in Torsten's heart and hiking, fishing and photography are some of his favourite hobbies.

Irene Nyquist. Irene is a very driven person who managed a restaurant in Spain for many years with passion   and flair. This restaurant received high praise in several food and travel magazines throughout Europe.
Irene pays a great deal of attention to details and the surroundings and she is very appreciated by her guests. Fluent in several languages, she enjoys meeting people and providing them with an excellent level of service.
